On choosing a signature scent for your home

A home's scent is its most invisible decoration — and its most remembered. Here's how we think about building a fragrance identity for a space.

Most people choose a candle the way they choose a paint colour — by what looks right in the shop. But scent works differently. It accumulates. It becomes the background note of a room, the thing guests notice before they notice anything else.

We suggest starting with one anchor scent per room. Something that suits the room's purpose: grounding and warm for a living space, clean and light for a bathroom, soft and slightly sweet for a bedroom. From there, you can layer — but the anchor holds everything together.

Our Signature Candle was designed to be that anchor. It's not trying to be interesting. It's trying to be right.

The evening reset

A five-minute ritual that signals the end of the day — and the beginning of the evening. No productivity required.

The transition from day to evening is one of the most underrated moments in a home. It's the point where the space shifts from functional to restorative — if you let it.

Our ritual is simple: light a candle, open a window for two minutes, put something away that's been sitting out. That's it. The candle is the signal. The rest follows.

It sounds small because it is small. But small rituals, repeated, become the texture of a life.

Hanging prints without overthinking it

The most common mistake people make with art is waiting until they're sure. Here's a simpler approach.

There's a version of print styling that involves laser levels, gallery walls, and a lot of measuring tape. That version is fine. But it's not the only version.

We prefer the approach of one print, one wall, one decision. Find the piece you keep coming back to. Put it somewhere you'll see it every day — not the hallway, not the guest room. The kitchen. The bedroom. Somewhere that matters.

A print you love in a frame you chose, hung at eye level, is always right. The rest is decoration.

Candle or room spray — how to choose

Both have their place. Here's how we think about which one belongs where.

The candle is an event. You light it with intention, you watch it, you blow it out. It marks time. The room spray is a condition — a background state that persists without asking anything of you.

For rooms where you want presence — a living room, a dining table, a reading corner — the candle is right. For rooms where you want atmosphere without attention — a hallway, a bathroom, a bedroom you walk into at the end of the day — the room spray earns its place.

We use both. They're not competing. They're doing different things.
